The Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County Tornado Service Project May 2011

Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County started the "Build Up Hope" project in the aftermath of the recent tornados that changed the lives of so many families. The Club collected 8 large boxes of clothing, cleaning products, linens, food and other essential items. They have also received monetary donations totaling $1,052. These donations are being used to help Club members' families whose homes were damaged or destroyed and to assist others in Johnston County whose lives were also affected. Club members wanted to show their neighbors that the community cares and to "Build Up Hope" in a time when it seems like all hope is gone.

These are the things that are needed now and can be taken to the
Boys & Girls Club located at 609 Pollock Street, Selma, NC (919-965-5240)

Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County Attended a Carolina Hurricanes Game!

In February 2011, members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County attended a Carolina Hurricanes game! They viewed the hockey game from an all-inclusive suite that was donated by Eric Staal and his wife, Tanya. The Staal's donate the suite to organizations such as ours that support young people. Club members were served hotdogs, popcorn, cookies, and drinks. The suite included 2 big screen TV's, leather stadium seating, and a private bathroom. The Hurricanes' Staff visited the suite throughout the game taking pictures and leading the Club Members in cheers for the team. In addition, each Club Member received a t-shirt signed by Eric. Everyone had a fabulous time!
